2021’s Business Book of the Year Is All About Cybercrime
2021 is shaping up to be a big year for Nicole Perlroth. That’s the year her new book, “This is How They Tell Me the World Ends,” is set to be published. The book is set to be the 2021 business book of the year, and it’s all about cybercrime.
For over 20 years, Perlroth has been a journalist, with a focus on cybersecurity. Her work in this area has made her one of the most respected reporters in the field, and her new book is sure to be a hit. “This is How They Tell Me the World Ends” takes a look at some of the biggest cyber attacks in history, namely the Sony hack in late 2014 and early 2015.
Also including last year’s massive SolarWinds hack that gave Russian linked hackers access to huge amounts of sensitive data from the U.S government and major companies like Microsoft and Intel. Perlroth has covered these kinds of attacks for over two decades, making her uniquely qualified to write an authoritative book on this subject.
This will be her sixth book, with titles including “Fortress Israel: The Inside Story of the Military Elite Who Run the Country – And Why They Can’t Make Peace” (2014) and “Takedown: From Radioactive Waste to Cyber Threats, the Dark Side of the Digital Age” (2012).
“It’s an exciting time for anybody who likes a good cyber story,” Perlroth says in one report. “I know that I’m having a lot of fun.”
It’s not surprising that 2021 is setting up to be big for this journalist. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times since 1995, when she joined as a staff writer covering local news. She would go on to become a senior business reporter at American Banker before moving to Newsweek/Daily Beast, where she served as cybersecurity correspondent until joining The New York Times in 2014.
She won several awards including being named a finalist for the Livingston Award. She was named by Forbes as one of “The Names You Need to Know” in technology.
Perlroth holds graduate degrees from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2012, she was honored with the Women in Technology International Leadership Award.
