Long bio

Photography is my major passion in life and since i picked up my first decent camera ive always had a camera within 10 yards of me, whether it be my work camera or my various compacts and so if you see me around no doubt i will be carrying one. I first started taking pictures of the local area and family , i then posted them on myspace where i had a lot of friends who liked my work and asked me to take their picture. I got talking to a up and coming model from leeds and we arranged a shoot. This was my first shoot and as i recall her second, at the time i was using a fuji 6.1 mp camera but the results stunned me as i had a natural talent for photography. We did a further 3 shoots and just 5 months after buying my fuji i upgraded to a canon 400d and this expanded what i could do with my vision of the shoots. The shoots we did were in leeds around this time were very informal and off the cuff, which brought out the best in my work as there is no time to think i just shot. Never more so was a shoot in a old abandoned asylum this is still my favourite shoot. The next step was when i decided to sell my fuji to a girl i knew through a fellow photographer, we met in leeds and just hit it off. She was a photography student, . I just shot and didn’t edit much but she got me into reading up about photography and it helped me a great deal. We then formed a little partnership and did a few weddings together. Soon after this i travelled to Portugal to stay with my sister who lived out there at the time, she was at work 9 hours a day, so i took my camera out and loved the different culture and what that could bring to my work After i got back to England i carried on doing the odd shoot , ,i then started taking long walks out in the local countryside taking shots of the landscapes and wildlife. My shots helped show what my part of the world had to offer! Soon after, a old school friend got in touch and asked me if i could shoot some live gigs for his band , this was new to me but i did the gigs and loved it. I think the background in outdoor photography is the reason i mainly do location shoots. I also find a studio limits my creativity, in july 2010 I got my first pro camera and now looking to expand my work i find the different locations and the weather on any set day can challenge me and the models vision of a shoot, which always brings out the best in the final product. In late 2010 I discovered a photographer called peter dench having looked at his work and loved it I then looked at what inspired him the likes of martin parr this type of photography excited me very much so I started finding out more about the street photography scene buying what ever books I could on the subject and going out on the streets of Yorkshire at least 3 times a week I am by no means great at it yet but im putting the effort in to see the world in the way the people that inspire me do
