What?
Emphas.is is a platform for photojournalism that offers a unique bond between photojournalists and their audience, and in the process aims to create a new financial model for photojournalism in the 21st century.
Why?
The interest in high quality photojournalism is at an all time high. Photojournalism depends on the willingness of newspapers and magazines to publish and finance it. In the digital age, many media have decided that photojournalism is no longer a priority. We think this is a mistake.
How?
Through crowdfunding, but with a difference. Crowdfunding has already proved to be a successful model in other areas, and we believe photojournalism has a large and enthusiastic following that is willing to contribute financially when given the right rewards. Emphas.is offers these rewards in the form of unique access to photojournalists and their work process.
